Where did all this start?
The company was born out of the love of a challenge
Hi there, my name is Alan, I have been in the building industry for the last 36 years, and now parts of my body have started to break down. In my spare time I have been a road race promoter and have organised events from 5k's to the Marathon distance. The events I organise and manage are genuinely born out of a love of the sport and activities which feature in the routes I have created.
I took up running in 2002 to lose weight and get fit and this resulted in me loosing 4.5 stone from a starting point of 18.5 stone. Once I started I couldn’t stop and went on to challenge myself even more. I used to canoe as a boy and later got my first Canadian 3 man canoe as payment for a small job I did for a customer and spent many hours on Windermere and Coniston with my three young children.
My first challenge was to tackle the three peaks, but not only to climb them, but to cycle between them. Friends and family thought I had gone mad, but I was taking on this challenge in the memory of a close friend who did the same challenge with terminal cancer between his bouts of Chemotherapy. It was this challenge, that without thinking, had planned my first tour, as I had done all his support, route plan and logistics for his challenge.
In the years since I have taken on further challenges which feature in a number of my routes which I now organise. My latest challenge to date was to cycle Lands End to John-o-Groats in September 2020, planning and designing the 900 mile route and organising all transport and logistics for a group of 6 to raise much needed funds for 2 local charities, raising over £8000.
So out of all this 3C’c Sport & Leisure Tours has emerged. I have a great love of the outdoors, but doing so in comfort, hence the hotels and quality B&Bs for relaxing after your day of exercise. The company has been built using the knowledge of my own experiences and challenges over the past 19 years, of outdoor activities that I have taken part in or organised. After cycling the length and breadth of the UK, climbing the 3 highest peaks in the country and, paddling the 3 most beautiful lakes in Cumbria, I thought I would offer these great experiences to others in the way of a holiday with exercise, great views, great food and relaxation with like minded people.
If this sounds like something for you, take a look at the different tours all offering something different whilst including all three activities.
Alan Taylor.
